Maynard J. Christenson, age 76, of Rochester, died very unexpectedly on Monday, August 7, 2017, while recovering from heart surgery at Madonna Towers in Rochester. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester. The visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, August 11, 2017, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service at the church. Entombment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family and will be donated to a charity of their choice. Maynard John Christenson was born on March 2, 1941, in Rochester, to Eldridge and Elsie (Podolske) Christenson. He graduated from Byron High School in 1959 and attended Mankato State University. On May 12, 1976, he married Bonnie Hovey. Maynard worked at Rochester Dairy aka AMPI. He then worked for Molde Trucking, Wilson Leasing and most recently known as Lawrence Transportation where he retired after 30 years at the age of 70. He enjoyed everything sports especially the MN teams, watching NASCAR, ESPN and old westerns. Maynard also enjoyed golfing, walking, bowling, and doing crossword puzzles. Maynard loved traveling, vacationing, and spending time with his grandchildren and grand puppies. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served as an elder for many years. Maynard is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Rochester; children, Ann (Michael) Olson of Byron, Dan Christenson of Rochester, Brent Boysen of Byron; Stacey Christenson of Mesa, AZ and Travis (Lori) Christenson of Rochester; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy Molde, Gordon (Dee) Christenson and Marilyn (Dalmer) Strain all of Rochester; and many nieces and nephews.
