On the afternoon of February 25, 2014, Maxine passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving friends at Golden Living Center East where she had resided for the past nine months. Maxine was born February 7, 1925 to Kenneth and Alice Langdon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.At the age of eleven, Maxine and her family moved to Rochester, MN.Her family owned and operated a dry cleaning business for 17 years.In 1956, Maxine and her parents started a new venture with their first motel.Through the years the family purchased and managed a substantial amount of property along Second and Third Avenues of Rochester.Maxine and her mother worked together in the hotel until 1998 when her mother retired.Maxine continued until her retirement from the hotel business at the age of 80 when she sold the last of her property. Maxine enjoyed people and formed many close friendships over the years.She had a wonderful sense of humor and touched the lives of many individuals.Maxine enjoyed traveling, bowling, bingo, poker, and land cruising in her red Cadillac.She also loved the outdoors and staying in touch with special friends over a dinner out. Maxine was passionate about assisting those in need, and education for children.She was a generous donor to many charities throughout the community. She believed it was important to give to others as she had been very blessed in her life.Maxine was a member of the Church of St. John the Evangelist and also served many years volunteering with St. Marys Hospital Pink Ladies. Maxine is survived by her two very special cousins, Lillian Anderson and Marian Langdon.Maxine was an only child and her cousins were like sisters. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Kenneth and Alice Langdon. A celebration of Maxines life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 4th at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes Chapel, 5421 Royal Place NW Rochester, MN.Visitation will be one hour before the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the charity of your choice.
