Maxine Allert, age 96, of Rochester, passed away peacefully October 16, 2019. She was preceded in death by parents Hazel and Tony; sister Katherine; brothers Joe, Jack and Earl; and daughter-in-law Leah. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years Don; children Jim (Debbie) Allert, Tom Allert, Jeff (Jennifer) Allert and Carol (Jim) Herman; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends. Maxine graduated from Macalester College and the Mounds Park School of Nursing in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was a cadet nurse at the San Diego Naval Hospital during WWIl. She was a loving mother as well as a nurse, a homemaker, and later a nursing instructor at Rochester Community and Technical College until her retirement. Maxine loved singing and dancing and was a talented musician, playing the piano and other instruments by ear. She especially enjoyed leading sing-alongs to liven up social gatherings. As a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Rochester she was an active member of women's groups and the church choir for many years. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, November 8 at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior at Evangel United Methodist Church, 2645 N Broadway Ave, Rochester, MN 55906. Interment Acacia Park Cemetery, Mendota Heights at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Evangel United Methodist Church or the Rochester Salvation Army.
