REMINGTON Mary M. Remington, 89, of Rochester, passed away unexpectedly on May 31, 2017 at her home. Mary was born Mary Marine Wright near Preston, Minnesota in 1928, one of 10 children of farmers Ed and Olive (Johnson) Wright. A precocious student, she skipped 2 grades and graduated from Preston High School. In 1946 she married LeRoy Goodenough, with whom she had 3 children; Gary, Cheryl, and Dan. After LeRoys death in 1960, she married Roger Remington in 1961 with whom she had another son, Michael. Longtime residents of Rochester, she and Roger moved full time to Reads Landing when Roger retired from the Rochester Fire Department in 1983. Mary was a very talented seamstress and baker, winning many blue ribbons at the Olmsted County Fairs, and was an avid bridge player having earned many masters points in local tournaments. Mary had a passion for gardening, antiques, and the outdoors.She was an active volunteer in church and other charitable causes. She was also the first female Justice of the Peace in Rochester. Mary is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roger; children, Gary (Nancy) of New Orleans, Dan (Lynn) of Edina and Michael (Doreen) of Minnetonka; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, and son-in-law, Bruce Selle of Rochester. Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryll Fuff. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester.
