Mary Martha (Antisdel) Askeland passed away on December 1, 2015 at her home in Rochester, Minnesota. Mary was born at Spencer Hospital in Spencer Iowa on February 15, 1942 to Dwight and Irvilla (Winton) Antisdel.She grew up nearby in Milford, Iowa and attended Milford High School.After completing her studies at the University of Iowa, Mary married her high school sweetheart, Donald Askeland, in June, 1965.After a brief stay in New Hampshire, Mary gave birth to her son Per Askeland in Ann Arbor, Michigan.The Askeland family moved to Rolla, Missouri in 1972 where Mary worked as a preschool teacher for many years.In 2007 she moved to Rochester, Minnesota to enjoy retirement with Don. Mary enjoyed traveling and many crafts including sewing, knitting, card making, and lampworking.An avid quilter, Mary took great joy in sharing her passion and her projects with others and helping newcomers learn the craft.Her greatest gift, though, was the love that she shared with her family and friends and she will be greatly missed. Mary was preceded in death by her mother Irvilla (Winton) Antisdel, her father Dwight Antisdel, and her sister-in-law Mary Sue Askeland. She is survived by her husband Donald Askeland of Rochester MN, son Per Askeland of East Lansing MI, brother Phillip (Phip) Antisdel and his wife Nancilee of Forest Lake, mother-in-law Joy (Hedges) Askeland of Worthington MN, sister-in-law Joni (Askeland) Bohning and husband Bruce of Worthington MN, sister-in-law Wendy (Askeland) Fell and husband John of Mankato, MN, brother-in-law Jim Askeland and wife Roseanne of Jonesboro, AR, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church 400 5th Avenue SW Rochester, MN 55902
