Mary Lynn A. Blondell, 94, of Rochester, MN died Friday, February 15, 2019 at Samaritan Bethany. Mary Lynn Ardis Johnson was born March 12, 1924 to Arthur and Mary (Hansen) Johnson in Red Wing, MN. In 1942 she graduated from Red Wing Central High School. She began a study of music at St. Olaf College, but had to leave to return to Red Wing to help at her father's Buchanan Grocery Store when he became bed ridden. She married John Blondell at First Lutheran Church in Red Wing, MN on December 21, 1946. The couple moved to Idaho Falls, ID and lived there for a few years before moving back to Red Wing. They then moved to Rochester where they raised their four children. Mary Lynn worked as a crossing guard for 6 years and then as a custodian at John Marshall High School for 10 years. She was an active member at Calvary Episcopal Church. She was a dedicated homemaker, loved music, enjoyed sailing on Lake Pepin, knitting and quilting. Mary is survived by her children, John Mark (Nancy) Blondell, Nancy (Ty) Truax, Mary (Ken) Norrie, Linda (Craig) Vonch all of Rochester, MN; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and one sister, Jewel Bebensee of Hackensack, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Errol Johnson and a grandson, Tim Truax. A private family burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery. Services are pending.
