Mary Kathryn Moen, 67, of Rochester, MN, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at The Mayo Clinic St. Marys emergency room. Mary was born September 23, 1948 in Kennett, MO to Robert and Vivian (Hatcher) Talbert. She was a1966 graduate ofKennett High School and went on to obtain her Bachelors Degree from the University of Maryland.Her intellectual curiousity led her to participate in summer language camps at Concordia Collegeand to take numerous graduate history courses at the University of Minnesota.On January 25, 1985, in Rochester, Mary married Ken Moen, an attorney. Mary worked as a financial advisor for over 25 years at Dain Bosworth and Merrill Lynch. After retiring, Mary joined her husband Ken at his law firm, performing all aspects of office administration and maintaining client relationships.She was very active and vocal with many community groups, especially if they pertained to women's rights and issues. Mary spent countless hours lobbying at the State Capitol.She was a tireless campaigner for Democratic state and federal candidates and establiched frendships with them all.She was an avid reader of books and periodicals about history and international afffairs.Mary loved to travel to her favorite international destinations of Paris, London, Thailand, and China. She visited her favorite US cities, Scottsdale and San Francisco, frequently.Mary was larger than life, full of zest, a strong woman with strong opinions and energy. Mary is survived by her loving husband, Ken; sons, Clayton Joseph (Tammy) Duggan, Robert Hugh Duggan; grandchildren, Loren, Zachery, Ruby and Orion; sister, Genevieve Talbert and a host of other family and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Vivian. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of the service. The Rev. Michael Forbes will be officiating with inurnment at a later date in Monette Memorial Cemetery in Monette, Arkansas, alongside her mother and other members of her extended family.
