Mary Chilson

Mary Lou Chilson, 91, of Byron, Minnesota died Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Zumbrota Care Center. Mary Lou was born July 10, 1927 in New Haven Township, MN the daughter of Harry and May (Prouty) Hayden. She went to country school and attended Central High School in Rochester through the ninth grade and earned her GED later in life. Mary Lou was united in marriage to Sherman Chilson on September, 19, 1948. They made their home in Byron, MN where they raised three children. Mary Lou worked for Telex for over 35 years and in her later years she worked for Cedarwood Laundromat and volunteered at Assisi Heights. Mary Lou and Sherman were chartered members of Seventh-day Adventist Church in Rochester. Mary Lou was an active servant of the church including playing the organ, preparing meals, cleaning, and furthering her deep commitment to Christian Education. Mary Lou also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and being able to care for her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Vicki Clarin and her husband, Leon, of Rochester, MN, Charlene Reid of Lincoln, NE, Gary Chilson and his wife, Debbie, of Durango, CO; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, Brother, Derald, of Mesa, AZ. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sherman; brothers and sisters, Oliver, James, Raymond, Ivan, Wesley, Dorothy (Jones), Ann (Chilson), and Harry. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 3, 2018 at Seventh-day Adventist Church 1100 37th St. NW, Rochester, MN 55901. Visitation will be held 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester and one hour prior to the service at the church.
