Marvin W. Buckland, V

Marvin Wallace Buckland , 78, of Rochester, MN. passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017 at River Bend Senior Living in Rochester. Marvin was born on July 1, 1939 in Des Moines, IA to Marvin Buckland and Doris Wilson. He grew up in Cedar Rapids, IA until moving to Omaha, NE . Marvin moved to the Twin Cities and attended Dunwoody Institute. He followed his fathers footsteps, working for I.B.M for 30 years in Minneapolis and Rochester, MN. Marvin married Patricia Alholm and they later divorced. For his retirement Marvin wanted to travel and choose to drive semi for JC Trux. Then he purchased his own semi and had it custom painted and was an owner/operator for Transport America. Marvin also served in the U.S. Army from June 30th 1957 to January 23rd of 1965. He enjoyed building model trains, creating counted cross-stitch projects, and puzzles. While his children were growing up he was also very involved in the Rochester Water Ski Show. Some of his fondest memories are from the time he spent with his family at Lake Zumbro. He is survived by his children, Christie (Gary) Hughes Lawrence of Dexter, MN., Marvin (Maria Lucelly) Buckland of Rochester, MN. and Mitchell (Sue) Buckland of Crystal, MN.; a brother, Dr. Robert (Bonnie) Buckland of Omaha, NE.; grandchildren: Jason, Travis, Breanna, Jennie, Amber, Minda, Michael, Aric, Alex, Marvin (VII), Brittany, and Zachary, and fifteen great-grandchildren. Two nieces Victoria Buckland and Sydney Buckland. He will also be missed by his life long friend Dudley Combs. He was preceded in death by his parents. In addition to an infant daughter, he was also preceded in death by daughter Janeane Rotz. A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes 5421 Royal Place NW Rochester, MN.
