Marvin Muller

Marvin H. Muller, 92, of Rochester passed away peacefully at Seasons Hospice on Saturday, June 11, 2016. A true sweetheart of a man, Marv was born on Valentines Day, February 14, 1924 in Dodge Center, MN.Son of Carl and Louise (Tischer) Muller. After graduating from Dodge Center High School, he moved to Willmar, MN where he worked at the A & P Grocery Store.It was in Willmar where he met the love of his life, Marvis Bergman.Marv served his country in the Army Air Corps from 19431945 where he was stationed in Cairo Egypt.He participated in the WWII Honor Flight in 2011. After his discharge in October 1945, he and Marvis were united in marriage.They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last December.Marv and Marvis made their home in Rochester where Marv worked for Northwest Airlines.He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for over 60 years and was the voice of the Sunday radio broadcast for over 40 years.Marv was instrumental in the building of Trinitys education wing.In 1956, Marv began his career with IBM.He served in various management roles and helped establish the IBM Retiree Club in Rochester.He retired in 1986 as IBMs Community Relations Manager. Marv was a very active member in the Rochester community.He served on the boards for Ability Building Center, Salvation Army, Senior Citizens Center, Volunteer Connection, Exchange Club and ABC Foundation.He served on the Citys 125th Rochesterfest Committee and stayed on the board for 10 years.He was also on the committees for Star of the North Games and AAU Junior Olympic Tournaments.He was an avid backer of MN sports teams.He loved playing golf; he even got a hole in one at Eastwood Golf Course.Marv was part of the coffee clutch at the Homestead and enjoyed time spent with the poker guys. Most importantly he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family, his strong Christian faith has been instilled in them. Marv is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marvis; daughters, Cheryl Vessey of Rochester and Kristen (Gregory) Rausch of Milwaukee, WI; grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott) Anderson of Garvin, MN, Katherine (Neal) Tovsen of Apple Valley, MN, Todd (Jessica) Vessey of LaCrescent, MN, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Lacey of San Diego, CA, Emily and Alyson Rausch of Milwaukee, WI; great grandchildren, Annika, Morgan, Andrew, Elise, Sebastian and Dylan; and former son-in-law, Craig Vessey.He was preceded in death by his daughter, MaryKay Lacey; son-in-law, David Lacey; his parents; two brothers and one sister. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church (222 6th Avenue SW).Visitation will start at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.Inurnment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Rochester American Legion Post #92. His family would like to send a special thank you to all the staff at Seasons Hospice and the pastoral staff at Trinity Lutheran Church.Memorials can be made to Season's Hospice or Trinity Lutheran Church.
