Byron, MN Marvin Lawrence Nichols age 87 of Byron passed away June 15, 2013 at Cottagewood Health Care in Rochester. Born November 30, 1925 in Byron, MN to L.W. And Lyda M. (Koelsch) Nichols.He graduated from Byron High School in 1944.He married Eleanor Roerish in Rochester on March 13, 1947 and she survives.Mr. Nichols was a lifetime farmer in the Byron area.He also worked in the X-ray Department at Mayo Clinic for several years retiring on April 27, 1990.He was a longtime member of the Douglas United Methodist Church.He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dancing, visits to the casino, and he also enjoyed being outdoors and mowing lawn. Surviving with his wife, Eleanor, are his 4 children: Laurence Larry Nichols (Debbie), William Bill Nichols (Diane), James Jim Nichols, and Melody Glamm all of Rochester, five grandchildren and one great grandchild, and one brother: Douglas Nichols (Jeanette) of Roscoe, IL.He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister. Memorial services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the Douglas United Methodist Church, with visitation one hour prior to services at the church.Burial will take place at Center Grove Cemetery in Douglas.Memorials in his memory are appreciated to either the Douglas United Methodist Church or the Center Grove Cemetery.Arrangements are being handled by Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home.
