Rochester- Martha Webster, 85, of Rochester, MN was born on December 21, 1926 in Caledonia, MN and passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Charter House Skilled Care Unit. Martha was the only child of D. DeForest Webster and Adele Roverud Webster. There are no living relatives. She attended Caledonia Public High School and graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Business in 1948. She played piano, organ and the coronet, following in her father's footsteps who played the coronet in the Ringling Brothers Circus band. Martha played coronet in the Caledonia band and also the U of M marching band for 2 years. On April 18, 1949, Martha began employment with the Winona branch of the Minnesota State Employment Service, now known as WorkForce Center/ Job Service, transferring to the Rochester office in 1968. Following a college retirement, Martha was assigned to Rochester Community and Technical College RCTC as Placement Director, serving in this capacity for 8 years until retirement in 1987. Martha served on the Personnel Committee for both Winona and Rochester YWCA's. She was a member of the Ruth Circle, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Rochester, Central Lutheran Church in Winona and the AAUW in both Winona and Rochester. Martha joined the Rochester Methodist Hospital Auxiliary on August 27, 1987 until April 8, 2011. Martha will be greatly missed by her friend Susan Steiner and others. A Memorial service will be held 11:00am Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Charter House Chapel, 211 First St. Rochester, MN 55901.
