A memorial service for Marshall Bud Barnes, 91, of Rochester, Minnesota will be at 1:00pm on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the Homestead (1900 Ballington Blvd NW, Rochester, Minnesota). Marshall Barnes was born on April 22, 1920 in Columbia, Mississippi to Marshall and Ella (Weathersby) Barnes.He died on June 5, 2011 at home with his family by his side. Marshall moved with his family to Hattiesburg, Mississippi and graduated from Hattiesburg High School.He served in the United States Army from November of 1942 to August of 1948 and served during the European Campaign and in the Marshall Islands.He received the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.He retired from the military in 1973. Marshall married Edna Atkins on February 11, 1952 in Toledo, Ohio and the couple moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1963 where he worked at Certified Warehouse as a supervisor.In 2002 the couple moved to Rochester, Minnesota. Marshall enjoyed fishing, politics, studying the bible and game shows, especially The Price Is Right. Survivors include his wife, Edna Barnes of Rochester, Minnesota; two daughters, Lisa (Adrian) Gordon of Salt Lake City, Utah and Brenda (Terry) Pittman of Indianapolis, Indiana; four sons, Darryl (Aimee) Barnes of Byron, Minnesota, Marshall Barnes of Salt Lake City, Utah, Larry (Kathy) Barnes of Salt Lake City, Utah and Toney Barnes of Salt Lake City, Utah; 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter and two great great grandsons; four brothers, Eddie (Bernice) Barnes of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Claude Barnes of Ocean Port, New Jersey, Raymond Barnes of Toledo, Ohio and Fred Barnes of Oakland, California; three sisters, Nellie Awls of Toledo, Ohio, Jeanette Carpenter of Hattiesburg, Mississippi and Dorothy (Cecil) Coes of Cincinnati, Ohio. Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Milton and four sisters, Margorie, Emma May, Geraldean and Leola.
