Marna Lee Kalman, 96, of Rochester, formerly of Boca Raton, Florida, died peacefully at her home in Shorewood Assisted Living on Friday, September 30, 2016. Marna was born June 12, 1920 in Chicago, IL to Henry and Margaret (Farr) Goldson. Marna was raised and attended school in Chicago. She met the love of her life, Herbert Harvey Kalman, whom she married in Chicago on April 29, 1939. Herbs career moved the family frequently, living in Houston and Amarillo, Texas; Denver, Colorado; Chicago, Illinois; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Los Angeles, California; and Bethesda, Maryland. Marna and Herb retired to Boca Raton, Florida in 1983 and lived there until moving to Rochester in 2009. In addition to her family, Marna loved golfing, boating, bowling, and had a vast appreciation for art and music. She was a gifted pianist, and enjoyed filling her home with the sound of beautiful music. Marna is survived by her two sons, Ron (Susan Hatter) of Centreville, VA. and Jerry (Lydia Rossi) of Fallbrook, CA; one daughter, Dr. Beth (Dr. Barry) Karon of Rochester, MN; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Marna was preceded in death by her loving husband of 75 years, a sister, a grandson and her parents. The funeral will be held at 10a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Bnai Israel Synagogue in Rochester followed by interment at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bnai Israel Synagogue or to the American Parkinsons Disease Association or the National Parkinsons Foundation.
