Marlene M. Ostrem, 86, lifelong resident of Rochester died February 2, 2021 from covid complications. She was born May 29, 1934 in Olmsted County and graduated from Rochester High School. On April 14, 1952 she married Gerald Carter who died in 1996. Later she married David Ostrem. Marlene worked as a waitress at Michael's restaurant and was a paraprofessional at Mayo High School. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, loved spending time with her family, feeding the birds, biking, being in the outdoors, cooking, baking, traveling abroad, and wintering in California. Survivors include her husband David; two daughters, Deborah (David) Alrick of Walker, MN, Pamela (David) Shaw of Longville, MN,; a son Darren Carter of Shoreview, MN., five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; a sister Sharon Riess of Rochester, nephews and a niece. She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Anita Singfiel and husband Gerald. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Pl NW, Rochester, MN with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
