Marlene D. Jacobson, 80, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Seasons Hospice, surrounded by her family. Marlene was born January 26, 1936 in Fountain City, WI to Henry and Alma (Meyer) Multhaup. She was a graduate of Winona High School and a graduate of the Methodist Kahler School of Nursing. On June 23, 1957, Marlene married Obed Jake Jacobson in Winona. Marlene spent her entire career as a nurse at Mayo Clinic Methodist Campus in the Nephrology Department. After leaving Mayo, she worked as a chemical dependency counselor at Fountain Centers in Rochester for 14 years. Marlene was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and was also a part of the Stephen Ministries.Marlene and Jake loved camping and traveling together. Marlene enjoyed snowmobiling,spending time with her family and visiting with friends. She loved conversation and was a wonderful listener. Marlene was a gentle, loving, generous and reserved woman. She will be greatly missed. Marlene is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Lynn) Clarey of Rochester,Cherilyn (Warren) Jacobson-Hammel of Eyota, Terri (Tom) Jacobson-McLaughlin of Rochester; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Wendell (Mae) Multhaup of Hayfield, Darrell Multhaup of Fountain City, WI; brother-in-law, John Steien of Arizona and many nieces and nephews. Marlene was preceded in death by her loving husband Jake; sister, Alma and parents, Henry and Alma. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 869 7th Ave. SE., Rochester. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 PM Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Rev.
