Marlene E. Vasilis, age 84, of Rochester, died on Monday, February 25, 2019, at Samaritan Bethany on 8th in Rochester. The memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes with Father Shawn Haremza officiating. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The inurnment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens at a later date. Marlene Esther Rohde was born on October 19, 1934, in Rochester, to Edwin and Lynda (Thoemke) Rohde. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1953. On May 1, 1956, she married Thomas Vasilis in Pine Island. They moved to Santa Barbara, CA where she worked as a nursing aid, and later moved back to Rochester where she was a homemaker. Marlene was a member of the Resurrection Catholic Church. Marlene enjoyed ice skating in her younger years and playing cards. She was social, caring, giving and loved by all. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren most of all. Marlene is survived by her children, Lynn (Dave) Smiezek of La Crosse, WI, Wayne (Mary) Vasilis of Northfield and Valerie (John) Pastor of Rochester; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas; brothers, Don and Ray Rohde.
