Mark Andrew Stevens, 65, of Kasson, MN died peacefully at his home Thursday, January 30, 2025. He was born September 16, 1959, in Rochester to Luverne and Ruth (Bungum) Stevens. Mark graduated from John Marshall High School in 1977. After high school, in 1985, Mark dedicated his time to start his own business, Northstar Auto Body, which was later changed to Stevens Auto Body, and eventually, Stevens Collision Center in 1999.
On June 24, 1989, Mark married Julie Prouty and together they raised three children: Hilary, Dillon, and Dustin. As a family, they enjoyed many experiences such as watching their kids play hockey, traveling on vacations, and spending countless hours boating on the Mississippi River in Wabasha. Although Mark and Julie separated, they had an unbreakable bond with parenting, in friendship, in life, and especially with their granddaughters.
Mark was a year-round athlete who participated in a variety of sport leagues such as golf, softball, broomball, and hockey. His love of being active was so great that his children were just as inspired to play these sports themselves! Mark was always in attendance at his kids' sporting events, coached many of Dillon and Dustin's hockey teams, and stayed relevant playing on his own hockey team, The Buzz. Because of Mark's love of hockey, his family got to enjoy years of traveling to tournaments and creating lifelong friendships within the hockey community.
To describe Mark as a handyman would be an understatement; there was nothing Mark could not construct or repair! He designed the 53,000 sq. ft. building for Stevens Collision Center where he developed his own down-draft paint booth, laid all the tubing for in-floor heating, and even completed all the finish work to the interior of his business himself. Later in years, his children remembered just how mechanically inclined he was by challenging his expertise in remodeling bathrooms, framing fireplaces, tile setting, tree removal, plumbing, and of course, he always made sure their cars were running in tip-top shape too! Mark proved himself as a man of all trades for others by consistently ensuring "The Buzz Bus" was up and running to make it to the annual Return of the Robin hockey tournaments for his family, friends, and everyone else to enjoy. Mark dedicated his life to guarantee those he surrounded himself with had as much fun as possible wherever he chose to be!
Mark is survived by his three children, Hilary Stevens, Dillon (Skyler) Stevens, and Dustin (Kaitlyn) Stevens; his adored granddaughters, Aspen, Ava and Aurora Lee; his mother, Ruth Stevens, his siblings, Gary (Cindy) Stevens, Marilyn (Dennis) Aarsvold, Julie (Dee) Hunsaker, Jim (Karla) Stevens, Patty (Randy) Rucker, and Bruce Stevens; and multiple cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Luverne Stevens and infant sister.
A funeral service for family and close friends will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025, at South Zumbro Lutheran Church. Following, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Kasson American Legion at 2:00 p.m. for all to commemorate Mark's life.
