Mark Sickman, 73, of Rochester, MN passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016, while vacationing in the Grand Canyon. He was born on January 13, 1943, to Harold and Elaine (Larson) Sickman. Mark grew up on the family farm near Vesta, MN and attended public school in Echo, MN where he was valedictorian of his class in 1961. Mark graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1965. While at the University he met the love of his life, Mary Teply. They were married on June 24, 1966, and raised two sons. Mark worked for Allis Chalmers in West Allis, WI and White Implement and Minneapolis Moline in Hopkins, MN. He and his family moved to Rochester, MN in 1985 where he started working for Crenlo. Mark also worked for Blount Inc. in Owatonna, MN for a short time before working for Cannon Equipment, in Rosemount, MN, from which he retired in 2006. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many trips to Canada with his sons and relatives to catch walleyes. Mark also enjoyed working in his gardens, surfing the internet and especially watching his grandchildrens sporting and dance events. He loved putting his engineering degree to work by tinkering with his tractors and corvettes and helping fix, and find solutions, to things that were broken. Mark and Mary loved to travel and visited 46 states together in their motorhome along with visiting various countries. They also enjoyed going to Mexico each winter and spending a week at a cabin with the Sickman family in the summer. He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Aaron (Kari) of Rosemount, MN and Paul (Kristina) of Hudson, WI; grandchildren, Evan, Nicole, Tate and Blake and a sister, Karen Anderson of Richfield, MN. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 3 at First Presbyterian Church in Rochester. Visitation will be held at the church two hours prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the Rochester Ronald McDonald House.
