Marion E. Bagne

Marion Bagne, 84, of Rochester passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Samaritan Bethany Nursing Home in Rochester. Born December 8, 1929 in Arlington, Minnesota to Henry and Caroline (Spannaus) Nieland. She attended and graduated high school in Arlington before graduating from the Minnesota School of Business with a business degree. In 1950, she married Julius Jay Bagne in Minneapolis, they later divorced. Marion was an active member of the Library Board, chairing the Friends of the Library Board, along with a founding member of the United Way Board and recording secretary at Gloria Dei Church. She owned Rochester Mail Center and Olsten Temporary Services for several years. Marion also did interior decorating on several real estate developments. She enjoyed bridge, reading, and playing tennis. Marion loved taking daily walks and having coffee or lunch with her friends. Marion is survived by her four children, Scott (Joyce) Bagneof Rochester, Jennifer (Mark) Bagne-Walsh of Rochester, Carolyn (Dan Hicks) Bagne of St. Paul, Chuck (Rene) Bagne of Chesapeake, Virginia; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and a sister, Evelyn Christianson of Preston. In addition to her ex-husband, she was preceded in death by her four brothers, Elmer, Richard, Karl and Arnold; and both her parents. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester. Family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until the time of the service. Marion was cremated, and a private family burial will be held at a later date.
