Marion A. Peterson

July 28, 1923 — October 21, 2018

Marion Adelle Peterson, age 95, of Rochester, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 21, 2018. Marion A. Lindberg was born on July 28, 1923 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the only child of Frank and Regina Lindberg. The Lindberg family lived in the Cambridge area where she graduated from Cambridge High School in 1940. Marion studied at Bethel College in St. Paul for one year then transferred to Mounds-Midway School of Nursing to earn her RN degree. She worked at Mounds-Midway Hospital after graduation. Later, from 1965 to 1982, she worked as a surgical nurse at the Minnesota State Hospital in Rochester. It was her roommate's mother that encouraged Marion to write to her son, Burton K. Peterson, who was serving overseas in the army. They were married on May 29, 1947 in Cambridge, MN and then settled in Windom, MN where they had their son David. In 1950, they moved to Rochester where Daniel and Debra were born. Marion was a faithful and dedicated member of Autumn Ridge Church for almost 70 years. She loved the Lord Jesus and she loved His Church and community! Over the years, she volunteered in the Sunday School, women's groups, kitchen committee, Bible studies, mentoring program, and many acts of compassion and kindness. She also volunteered with her husband at Camp Victory and Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch in the greater Rochester area. During their married life, Burt and Marion enjoyed traveling - camping trips across the country with family and with friends, and researching their family roots in Sweden and Denmark. Marion was a seamstress and wonderful hostess. In 2008, Burt and Marion moved to the Gramercy Park Co-op where they enjoyed the community by becoming involved in various activities. Marion is survived by two sons, David (Patti) Peterson of Pequot Lakes, MN and Daniel (Arlys) Peterson of Lakeville, MN; a daughter, Debra (Jerry) Schommer of Eagan, MN; five grandchildren - Tracey Peterson, Aaron Peterson, Jason (Melinda) Schommer, Jessica (Zachary) Mernin, Jennifer (Jacob) Reiter, and step-grandson Tim Schwab; five great grandchildren - Calvin Schommer, Sadie Schommer, Beckett Schommer, Milo Mernin, Jax Mernin and step-great granddaughter Zoe Coniglio; and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Burton K. Peterson. Marion's life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Autumn Ridge Church of Rochester. Visitation will be held at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, on Monday, October 29, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. and at Autumn Ridge Church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Grandview Memorial Garden. The family prefers memorials to Autumn Ridge Church, Camp Victory, and Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch.
