Marilyn M. Norman, 87, of Rochester, MN passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Riverbend Senior Living. Marilyn Marie was born August 3, 1929 in Faribault to Fred and Bernice (Swift) Saufferer. She was raised in Blooming Grove Township and graduated from Morristown High School in 1947. She then entered Saint Marys School of Nursing in Rochester, graduating in 1950. Marilyn married Vernon Bud Norman on June 16, 1951 at Morristown Methodist Church. She spent most of her working years at Saint Marys Hospital and at Kenyon Sunset Home. Vernon passed away on July 2, 2005. Mom enjoyed spending her time reading, listening to the Big Band station on her radio, playing cards, watching the girls and boys state basketball tournament, and the Twins (even last year). She also loved watching her grandchildren participate in athletics and band. However, nothing provided her with more joy and memories than her years spent on Cedar Lake near Faribault. From get-togethers with family friends to catching sunfish off of the dock or in her paddle boat. Having a mornings coffee on the porch while thoroughly enjoying the sites and sounds that only a lake can provide is something she never took for granted. Peace tranquility are two words that come to mind in describing moms feelings about living on the lake. Those two words also came to mind on her very last day with us. She is survived by two sons, Steven (Pat) of Winona, Scott (Natalie) of Racine and one daughter, Debra (Darold) Davis of Tulsa, OK; three grandsons and three granddaughters; two great granddaughters; one brother, James (Joan) Saufferer of Prior Lake; one sister, Sharon Zitzmann of Rochester; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Dick. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Myasthenia Gravis Society.
