Marilyn (Lynn) B. Jensen

November 17, 1929 — June 1, 2017

Marilyn (Lynn) B. Jensen Lynn Jensen, 87, of Rochester, died after a long battle with a rare neurological disease, progressive supranuclear palsy, on June 1, 2017. Lynn was born in Huntington Park, CA to Lyle and Wilma (Hein) Farmer on November 17, 1929. She attended school in Alahambra, CA. On April 18, 1948, in Rochester, she married Arnold Jensen and they were blessed with 5 children. Lynn helped in the day to day operations of Arnie Jensen Masonry. After the children were raised, Lynn went to work managing the Rolling Greens apartments for 12 years. She and Arnie were members of Grace Lutheran Church, where she served in many roles over the years as secretary of the Cradle Roll, in the Lydia Circle, as Trustee, teaching Sunday school, and singing in the choir. Lynns passion was for her family, exceeded only by her deep love for, and rock-solid faith in, her Savior, Jesus. Her daily hobbies were her morning devotions and long prayer list. Seasonally she enjoyed caring for the flowers and plants in her home and yard. Lynn had a great sense of humor and was capable of being very silly especially with her grandchildren. A very kind, caring and generous woman that always put the needs of others before her own. Marilyn is survived by her husband of 69 years, Arnold, who visited her faithfully every day; children, Judy (Dennis) Hilken of Bakersfield, CA, Janice Jensen of Rochester, Kathy Johnson of Rochester, Nancy (Bryce) Rothwell of Eau Claire, WI; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Jensen; granddaughter, Whitley Thompson; infant son, John Jensen; brother, Gordon Farmer and by her parents. Visitation will be held at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, June 13, at Grace Lutheran Church, 800 East Silver Lake Dr. NE, Rochester, followed by a worship service celebrating her life and faith at 11:00 AM officiated by her grandson, Pastor Brad Jensen and son-in-law, Pastor Dennis Hilken. A special thanks to the staff of Rochester Health Services who lovingly cared for her the past six years.
