Marilyn E. Ormand, age 81 of Rochester, MN, was born December 6, 1933, reborn of the Spirit as a youth, and now with the Lord as of April 22, 2015. Marilyn married Roger Ormand in 1951, after taking a one-way train to San Antonio to wed her Air Force groom. She is survived by Roger; son, Steven (Lori) Ormand of Rochester, MN; daughter, JoAnn Ormand of Sioux Falls, SD;and son, Thomas (Jolene) Ormand of New Brighton, MN; four beloved grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: Christopher Ormand; Lisa (Anthony) DeMalia and their sons, Anthony Jr. and Gabriel; Daniel (Laura) Ormand; and Nicole (Joseph) Kirk and their son, Conrad. Marilyn is also survived by her sister, Rosalie (Jim) Schlief of Brainerd, MN and sister-in-law, Loretta Royce of Elizabethton, TN. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Walter M. and Evelyn M. (Schlief) Royce, and by her brother, Ronald Royce. Marilyn enjoyed reading, writing, playing the piano, traveling, and square dancing. Always seeking to serve others and share her faith by example and expression, Marilyn served as a 5th Grade Sunday School teacher, a Read Around the World volunteer at Jefferson Elementary, a lay visitor with the Chaplaincy program at St. Marys Hospital for twenty years, a volunteer visitor/reader at local nursing homes, and a faithful member and servant at Evangel UMC. A master letter writer and greeting card sender, Marilyn was always thinking about the needs of others, especially children. Having felt the love of the Lord as a youth camper at what has now become Camp Victory, Marilyn requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in support of efforts to bring the Gospel to youth and children through the works of Camp Victory at 58212 403rd Ave. Zumbro Falls, MN 55991 or Evangel UMC Youth and Children Ministries. The celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Evangel UMC, 2645 North Broadway Ave., Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM Monday, April 27, 2015 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW., Rochester, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church. The Rev. Jeff Utecht and Rev. Jim Barnhart (Camp Victory) will be officiating with interment at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
