ROCHESTER:Our blessed Lord and Savior called Marie Pelton home on Wednesday, July 9, 2014.Marie passed away at the Samaritan Bethany Nursing Home where she had lived since August 2006 at the age of 95; while being attended by her family. Marie Quenomoen was born on April 14, 1919 in Madison, Minnesota to Jul and Clara (Kesting) Quenomoen.She graduated from the Lac Qui Parle County School in Madison. Marie was a sales person in Montevideo and a nanny prior to her marriage.She was united in marriage to Clifton Gerold Pelton on February 21, 1943 in Montevideo, MN.Marie and her husband farmed for a number of years in Lac Qui Parle County and also in South Dakota near Revillo. In 1965, the family moved to Waseca, MN.She also was involved in outdoor sales and was a cook at a local caf in Waseca.She was avid craftswomen, artist, gardener, poet and seamstress. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and received numerous ribbons for her county fair exhibits.She also had large flower and vegetable gardens, utilizing the fruits of the land for her family and friends.She loved the outdoors, bird watching, feeding wild life and raised chickens for eggs. Marie attended Augusta Lutheran Church in Marietta and the Wesleyan Church in Waseca.She was a Sunday school teacher and Bible school teacher, was involved in Ladies Aide and with Missionary projects. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Graumann-Matz (James Matz); three granddaughters, Christine Garner (Jeffrey Brown), Patricia Graumann (Chris Bailey) and Tina (Marshall) Kruse; eight great grandchildren, Trey, Alicia, Storm, Skyler, Donte, Anna, Ty and Leia; two brothers, Alvin and Edmond Quenomoen; brother-in-law, Cecil Pelton and many nieces and nephews.Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifton; son, Roger; sisters, Dorothy Kittleson and Ester Sjolie; and brothers, Julius, Carl and Wally Quenomoen. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes.Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.Maries final resting place will be at the Augusta Cemetery in Marietta, MN at a later date. The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff at Samaritan Bethany Nursing Homes, Dr. Tangalos and to Seasons Hospice staff for their loving care that was given to Marie.
