ROCHESTER, MN: Marie Ida Vogt, 94, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 17, 2013 at St. Marys Hospital. Marie was born January 2, 1919 in Elgin, MN to Herman and Anna (Schuchard) Gusa. On September 22, 1940 in Potsdam, MN, she married Walter Vogt. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and a member of the Eagles. Marie enjoyed crocheting, painting , the beauty of flowers, which was evident in her gardens, especially her roses. She also enjoyed music, singing and playing the guitar and accordion. She loved to travel but always felt there was no place like home. Marie was an excellent baker, sharing her many desserts and pastries with family.Above all, Marie loved spending time and making memories with her family. Marie is survived by her loving husband of almost 73 years, Walter; children, Wayne (Kathryn) Vogt of Rochester, Bonnie (John) Rebartchek of Oak Grove, MN, Robert (Paula) Vogt of Rochester; daughter-in-law, Diana Vogt of Rochester; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great, great-grandchildren; sisters, Elsie Schacht of Kellogg, MN and Elizabeth (Marvin) Mueller of Fountain City, WI. Marie was preceded in death by her son, Jerry; parents; 1 sister, 3 brothers, and an infant son. A funeral service will be held11:00am Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church 1212 12th Ave. NW, Rochester. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until time of service at the church. The Rev. Karna Hagen will be officiating with interment at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
