Marian Stevens

Marian C Stevens 86 of Rochester, MN passed away peacefully with family by her side Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Madonna Towers. Marian Carlene Syverson was born October 26, 1931 to Casper and Clara (Grendahl) Syverson in Wanamingo, MN. After graduating from Wanamingo High School in 1949, she worked in Rochester as a telephone operator and later at JC Penny's. She met her future husband, Menford (Manny) Stevens at the Play Moor Ballroom and they were married on December 29, 1953. In 1960 they started Zumbro River Fur Farm where they raised mink. She raised 6 children and continued working the farm with her two sons after the death of her husband in 1981.Through the years Marian was the center of her growing family. She was known for her great cooking, especially feeding the large crews during busy farm times. She had a great sense of humor and loved to have fun. She will be missed. She is survived by her children, Larry (Becky) Stevens of Rochester, Mary (Alan) Hovey of Byron, Sherie (Ron) Ohm of Rochester, Scott (Lori) Stevens of Rochester and Tammy (Brett) Krueger of Rochester; 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Dorothy Ness of Rochester, Lila (Ronnie) Grose of Kenyon, MN and Arlene Anderson of Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Menford; her son, Tony; a sister, Patty Dankers and a brother, Clifford Syverson. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Bethel Lutheran Church (810 3rd Avenue SE Rochester, MN). Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Bethel Lutheran Church.
