Marian G. Erickson

Marian G. Erickson, 100, a longtime resident of Rochester, died at her home on November 24, 2014. She was the widow of Dr. Donald J. Erickson, one of the early pioneers of Mayo Clinic's Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Marian was born in Chicago in 1914 and raised in Janesville, Wisconsin. She worked her way through the University of Wisconsin, Madison and received degrees in medical technology and home economics. After marrying Dr. Erickson in 1941 they moved to Rochester. Marian is survived by her daughter, Karin (Dillon) of St. Paul; son, John (Cathy) of Lander, WY; grandchildren, Alex (Kristen), David, and Emily, and great-grandson, Tayvin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marian was preceded in death by her husband Donald, brother Frank and son Martin. A wonderful, witty and highly intelligent woman, her generosity of spirit will be missed by all. A private family memorial service was held.Memorials are preferred to Paws & Claws. Hers was a long life well lived.
