Margaret Giere

Margaret M. Giere, 99 of Rochester, MN died Friday, September 14, 2018 at Samaritan Bethany. Margaret Mae Munson was born August 23, 1919 to Oscar and Clara (Folkestad) Munson in Kasson, MN. She attended school in Kasson and after graduating she worked for the Rock Dell Exchange as a telephone operator. She married Haven Alexander Giere on December 9, 1937 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. For several years the couple farmed in the Rock Dell area. They moved to Rochester and for 27 years, Margaret was a nurse at the Rochester State Hospital. Margaret enjoyed many happy years of retirement, especially sharing her gift of music. Margaret had resided at Samaritan Bethany since 2012. Margaret is survived by many nieces and nephews that loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1981; four sisters, Edna Kral Larson, Verna Boyum, Olga Dahle and Wilma Bigelow; and two brothers, Carlos Munson and Arlin Munson. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes with the Reverend Glen Holland officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Zion Cemetery in Rock Dell, MN.
