Margaret Elizabeth (Lybeck) Moen, 84, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield, MN where she had resided the last 6 years. Margaret was born March 11, 1931 at home in Cascade Township, Olmsted County, Minnesota.She was the fourth child of Andrew and Nellie (Brooks) Haugen.Margaret joined her sister Jane and her brothers Chuck and Willard on the family farm.With her sister, brothers, and mother Nellie, a school teacher, they attended Byron Public Schools.By high school, both of her parents had passed away and Margaret lived with her older sister Jane and husband Cliff in the village of Byron.After high school graduation, Margaret worked as a waitress, cook and at Woolworths in Rochester before becoming a homemaker.When her children were all in school fulltime Margaret also returned to school as well working at Byron Elementary until retiring in 1996 as bookkeeper and secretary. Margaret married Amos Lybeck of Rock Dell in 1954 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Kasson.Together they made their home in Byron and started a family having three children, Bruce, Daniel, and Amy.After Amoss untimely death in June of 1971, she married Leon Moen of Kasson in 1976 at Christ Lutheran Church in Byron and together they made their home in Byron.Eventually, they moved to Kasson and attended South Zumbro Lutheran Church.Leon passed away in January 2011. Margaret enjoyed reading, camping, bowling, VFW and Legion Auxiliary, VFW and Legion suppers, dancing, sewing, her craft work hobbies, and cooking, as well as visiting friends and family.Margaret was always on the go involved in many activities.She loved to cook and could make a great meal at a moments notice.As she was an excellent cook, she hosted friends and family to partake in the bounty followed with coffee, desert, and a good measure of visiting.Margaret was always there to lend a helping hand when needed, placing others before herself.Her help in time of need, cooking, visiting, and friendship will be sadly missed by all her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Nellie; brothers, Chuck and Willard; husbands, Amos and Leon; and many brothers and sisters-in-law. Margaret is survived by her sons, Bruce Lybeck of Byron, MN., Daniel Lybeck of Dodge Center, MN., daughter, Amy Lybeck of RedWing, MN.; and grandchildren, Ashley Spriggle of Red Wing, MN and Nicole Lyons of Mesa, AZ.; sister, Jane Gronvold of Rochester, MN.; brothers and sisters-in-law Doris Lybeck, Lorna Lybeck, Marie Moen all of Rochester, Irene Sanvick of Austin, MN., Truman and Mavis Moen of Austin, MN.; Ivan and Dorothy Moen of Byron, MN. and Sybil Haugen of Kasson, MN. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at South Zumbro Lutheran Church 4830 120th Avenue SW Kasson, MN (www.szlc.org 507-365-8110) with the Rev. Mark Schwartz officiating.Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.Burial will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester, MN.
