Margaret Alice Sloan, 89, of Rochester, Minnesota was born on September 6, 1925 in Douds, Iowa to David and Elsie (Bishop) Sloan.She died on March 20, 2015 at Charter House in Rochester, Minnesota. A Memorial Service will be held at Charter House on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 10:00am.There will be no visitation.Burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery near Eldon, Iowa. Margaret began her teaching career in a one-room school near Eldon.Later she taught for the Air Force Dependent Schools in Japan, England, and Germany.She then taught for four years in Winona, Minnesota.She continued her services as a Reading Consultant in Rochester for twenty years.In 1982, she accepted a position as assistant professor in education at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico, where she taught six years. Margaret received her BA and MA from University of Iowa.She received her doctorate in education at the State University of New York in Buffalo, New York. She is survived by close friends Virginia Smith and Margaret and Ruth Schafer. Memorials are suggested to Mayo Foundation/Parkinson's Research or Homestead United Methodist Church.
