Madeline A. Lockey, 99, of Rochester, MN passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at Samaritan Bethany. Madeline Abbie (Hoofnagle) Lockey, born to Lloyd and Mary Ella Hoofnagle on June 7, 1918 in Waterloo, IA. Soon after the family moved to Hampton, IA due to a job area change for her dad. Madeline attended and graduated from Hampton High School in 1936. At that time, she moved to Waterloo and worked for F.W. Woolworth in the payroll department. In 1939, she married Lawton G. Lockey. In 1942 his job as a salesman for Rath Packing Company took them to St. Louis, MO where they lived until the war ended. Returning to Waterloo, they purchased the Benson Butter Company and sold and delivered to stores, restaurants, schools, etc. They were blessed with a daughter, Cathy Lynn and a son, Douglas Dale. Madeline worked some years later for Duratile Hanisch Floor Covering. Madeline was active in Grace Bretheran Church and in community groups. After the death of her daughter and her husband in 2004, Madeline moved to Rochester, MN to be near her son and his loving family. She resided and was active at the Shorewood Senior Campus and attended Resurrection Lutheran Church with her family in Rochester. Madeline is survived by her son, Douglas (Molly) Lockey; two grand-daughters, Megan (Matt) Mikkalson and Brie (Ben) Wiltsie; four great-grandchildren, Madelynn Mikkalson, Elijah Mikkalson, Cambelle Wiltsie and Paige Wiltsie; and two sisters-in-law. She is preceded in death by her husband and her daughter; one brother, and one sister. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Resurrection Lutheran Church 4520 19th Avenue NW Rochester, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Waterloo, IA. at a later date.
