Lyle Wright would like you to know his work is done.He taught for many years and had several generations of students in his classroom, served the community and played a role in service clubs.Recently he reunited with the love of his life, Mavis.His reunion will surely include dancing, playing bridge and gardening. Lyle Wright died on August 7, 2015 at the age of 88.He was born in Haynes, North Dakota to Ann and Lee (Benedix) Wright on February 21, 1927.He grew up with three brothers and two sisters in Kasson.Lyle graduated from Kasson High School in 1945 and Winona State Teachers College in 1949 with a degree in History and Industrial Arts.He taught in McIntosh, SD, Emmons, MN and spent the majority of his teaching career in Wells, MN.Lyle was an involved citizen of Wells where he taught, coached, was a member of the Lions Club, Park Board, and the Wells Education Association.Lyle also co-owned and operated the A Drive Inn from 1960-1978. He was married in Winona on May 24, 1947 to Mavis Ellen OBrien.They were married for 63 years.Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Lee and Lloyd; and sister, Margaret.He is survived by his son, Michael Wright and his partner, Alan Bilmes of San Diego; Gregory Wright and his wife, Susan Powell; his step-daughter, Sydney Powell; and his daughter, Jacquelyn Wright and her husband, Chris Wagner; Kelly Wright-Glynn, her husband, James Glynn and her son and daughter, Hunter and Kate of Rochester; and Georganna Wright and her friend, Paul Stenzel of Burnsville.Also surviving him are his siblings, Jerry Wright of Bayport, MN and Lela Gould of Crosby, MN. Lyle had a full life.He taught 42 years and after retirement continued to be involved with United South Central through subbing and sports activities.To say that he loved Wells would be an understatement.He was thrilled for the new High School and toured it several times.Since living in Rochester he volunteered at the May Clinic in the patient cafeteria and always enjoyed when he would run into someone from Wells. A celebration of Life will be held at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes in Rochester, MN on Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 2:00 5:00 p.m. with a brief service at 3:00 p.m. The family will accept donations that will be given to the United South Central History Department.
