PLUMHOFF Lyle Plumhoff, 67, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2017 at his home. Lyle was born in 1949 in Fairmont, MN to Harold and Luella Plumhoff. He spent his childhood on the family farm near Welcome, MN. He graduated from Sherburn High School, attended Augsburg College, and went on to receive his associates degree from Inver Grove Heights Community College. Lyle and Beth were married in 1972. They lived in Minneapolis and Spring Valley and raised their family in Rochester. Lyle worked as a union carpenter and as a building official for Olmsted County. He was a member of the International Association of Building Officials and the American Society of Home Inspectors. He enjoyed woodworking, listening to blues music, attending concerts, and organizing neighborhood outings. Lyle also loved working on home projects, fly fishing, and gardening, especially his rose garden. He was an honest, kind, and caring family man, and a great humanitarian. Lyle is survived by his loving wife, Beth; sons, Will (Greta) of Missoula, MT, Graham (Laura) of Minneapolis, MN; grandchild, Sayer; brother, Russell (Barb); sisters, Marlene and Nancy; and mother-in-law, Betty. Lyle was preceded in death by his daughter, Addie; parents, Harold and Luella and by his stepfather-in-law, Merlyn. A celebration of Lyles life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, 1727 Walden Lane SW, Rochester. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trout Unlimited, Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, or to Habitat for Humanity.
