Lyle R. Lubahn

Lyle R. Lubahn, 87, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Samaritan Bethany. Lyle was born February 14, 1928 in Oronoco, MN to William and Clara (Koenig) Lubahn. He graduated from Oronoco High School and then went on to proudly serve his country in the US Army during the Korean War. On April 25, 1957 in Wheeling, MN., Lyle married Mavis Bosshart. Lyle worked at Mayo for 40 years and retired in 1990. His last few years at Mayo, Lyle was known as Lyle the Doorman. He and Mavis were members of the Roc-8's square dancing club and they also enjoyed round dancing and traveling the country on many bus tours. Lyle loved woodworking and bowling. He started the Mayo Clinic bowling team and was a bowling coach for area youth. Lyle loved people and made friends easily. He was a member of the Korean Vet Club, Widow and Widowers Club, card club and served on the Samaritan Bethany Board for numerous years. Above all, Lyle loved spending time and making memories with his family. Lyle is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Paul) Pike of Rochester; grandchildren, Andrea (Adam) Timmerman, Heather (Nate) Meyers, Joshua Strelow, Allison Strelow; great-grandchildren, Ellie, Isaac, Noah, Grant and Keegan; sister, Gladys (Marv) Ollholf of Rancho Cordova, CA; brothers, Ernie (Donna) Lubahn of Waukon, IA and Gordy (Mary) Lubahn of Byron, MN. Lyle was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mavis; daughter, Nancy Strelow; his parents, William and Clara; brothers, Willie, Orville, Calvin, Orvin and Darrell and by his special friend, Betty Badger. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Congregational Church UCC, 974 Skyline Dr. SW., Rochester, MN 55902. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW., Rochester and one hour prior to the service at the church. The Rev.
