Lulu C. Andrist

ROCHESTER - Lulu C. Andrist, 101, died peacefully on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Golden Living Center East in Rochester. Lulu was born on a farm in Dodge County on March 27, 1912 to John and Tena (Teigen) Tverberg. She graduated from Hayfield High School in 1930 and immediately moved to Rochester to work as a nanny for the Dr. Louis Buie family. In 1943, she married Russell Andrist. Russell died on February 28, 1976. Lulu worked for 38 years as a waitress at the Rochester Golf & Country Club, retiring at age 75. She was a member of Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester since 1930 and was active throughout her life at church, including singing in the church choir for several years and belonged to Mary's Circle at Zumbro Lutheran Church. Lulu's main interests in life were her work, family, and church. Lulu is survived by her son, Gene (Isa) Andrist, of Denver, CO; two grandchildren, Brooke Andrist, of Denver, CO, and Kari (Joe) Vasbinder, of Castle Pines, CO; two great grandchildren, Jace and Jaxon Vasbinder, of Castle Pines, CO; and a sister, Stella Nelson, of Dodge Center, MN. Lulu is preceded in death by her husband, Russell; her parents; a brother, Raymond Tverberg; and a sister, Viola Starkson. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Zumbro Lutheran Church, 624 3rd Ave. SW, with Rev. Jason Bryan-Wegner officiating. Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Zumbro Lutheran Church Library Fund or the General Memorial Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
