Luana M. Jaycox (Rickman), 68, of Mankato, MN, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, after a long battle with lung cancer at Lighthouse Elder Care in Rochester, MN, surrounded by her family. AMemorial Service will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, at 1 p.m. at Good News Community Church, 1010 Julia Street, Okoboji, IA. A Celebration of Life (no service) will be held Friday, Aug. 31, from 3:30 - 6 p.m. at South Central College, 1920 Lee Boulevard, North Mankato, MN. Luana was born Oct. 14, 1943, at home in Arnolds Park, IA, to Blanche and Ray Rickman.She grew up in the Arnolds Park area and graduated from Arnolds Park High School in 1961.She married Larry Jaycox in October of 1961 in Lake Park, IA.They lived in the Lake Park area until they moved to Saint Peter, MN, in 1966.Luana and Larry divorced in October of 1985 and she continued to live in the Saint Peter area until 1992 when she moved to Le Sueur, MN.She started college in Sept. of 1992 at South Central College in North Mankato, MN, and graduated in June of 1994 with her A.A.S. degree.She moved to Mankato, MN, in June of 2003 and lived there until she moved to Rochester, MN.She moved to Lighthouse Elder Care in March of 2012 in Rochester where she resided until she passed away on Aug. 6, 2012. Luana held various positions throughout her working career until May of 2001 when she was hired as a general maintenance worker at South Central College in North Mankato, MN, and held that position for 10 years until her retirement in February of 2012. Luanas courage, strength, and selfless acts to help everyone and anyone were an inspiration to many people. Luana enjoyed baking, reading, researching her family genealogy, and spending time with her family. Luana is survived by her two sons, Mark Jaycox of Buffalo, MN, and Michael (and Darla) Jaycox of Rochester, MN; five grandchildren, Kean, Logan, and Maverick Jaycox of Saint Peter, MN, and Tasha and Scott Jaycox of Rochester, MN.Sisters and brothers, Querida Decker of Spencer, IA, Peggie Miller of Arnolds Park, IA, Ray( and Madeline) Rickman of Ypsilanti, MI, and Bobby (and Jody) Rickman of Arnolds Park, IA, and many nieces and nephews. Luana was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Blanche Rickman; sisters, Billie Ruth Rickman and Mona McGary; brother, Jack Rickman; and grandson, Talon Jaycox.
