Lorraine Clara Wilson of Cape Coral, FL passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Glens Falls Hospital, NY at the age of 100. Lorraine lived her long life with compassion, courage, dignity and had an enormous kindness towards everyone she met. Lorraine was born February 27, 1919 in Winona MN the fourth child of George E. Frie and Emma (Meili) Frie. She graduated with an R. N. Degree from the Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, MN in 1940. During her nursing career, she was affiliated with Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Lorraine's class had the honor of being the first to graduate in the new Mayo Civic Auditorium in Rochester. On May 31, 1941 Lorraine married Howard R. Wilson of Rochester, MN. Together they moved to various states while Howard was stationed in the US Army during World War II. While Howard was overseas, Lorraine continued working as a Supervisor in the Cardio Vascular Unit at the Worral Hospital and The Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN. Boating on fresh water lakes was a lifetime passion for both Lorraine and Howard along with their son Gary. They cruised the waterways from Cleveland, Ohio through the islands on Lake Erie and traveled by boat through the Erie Canal from Buffalo to Albany, NY. Upon retirement Lorraine & Howard built their home in Cape Coral, FL where they enjoyed time boating with friends and family, Jim and Geri Wilson and their children on the Gulf of Mexico waterways. They were founding members of The Lake Champlain Chapter of The Antique & Classic Boat Society, Inc. Lorraine was a kind lady and a very supportive towards anyone who came across her path. Her home was always open to visitors and her hospitality was beyond gracious. She will be missed by all who had the privilege to sit and chat with her. She is survived by her son Gary H. Wilson and wife Rebecca of Albany, NY. Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Howard Wilson, her brothers Rolland and George Frie, and her sisters Virgene Barton and Marilyn Osborn. Lorraine has several nieces and nephews and is a Great Great Aunt to many. Funeral arrangements are by Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home in Rochester MN. There will be a private family service with Pastor Jason Bryan-Werner from Zumbro Lutheran Church. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Rochester, MN on Monday September 23, 2019.
