Lorraine D. McCarter, 100,passed away peacefully Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Cottagewood Senior Community in Rochester. Lorraine was born November 8, 1913, in Newport, MN, to Nicholas and Georgia (Dorland) Fritz. Lorraine was a 1931 graduate of St. Josephs Academy in St. Paul. On November 30, 1939, Lorraine married John William McCarter at the Church of St. Thomas in St. Paul Park. Lorraine enjoyed playing bridge and was a golf enthusiast, playing her last round of golf at age 89. She volunteered over 5,000 hours as a Pink Lady at St. Marys Hospital. Lorraine is survived by her children Diana Garrity of Payson, AZ, Mark (Marilyn) of Savage, MN, Jerry (Maureen) of St. Cloud, MN, and David (Vickie) of Columbia, MO; grandchildren Michael (Mavis) Griffin, Brian (Denise) Griffin, Maureen Griffin, Kelly Campbell, Eric Campbell, Matthew (Dana) McCarter, Stuart McCarter, Corey McCarter, Stella McCarter; great-grandchildren Kaleb McCarter, Brianna McCarter, and Katy McCarter. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, John William; sons John Michael and Kevin William; daughter Janet Campbell; grandson Michah McCarter and eight brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home at 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
