Lois Ann Jorstad

Lois A. Jorstad, 78, of Rochester, MN passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Saint Marys Hospital. Lois Ann Mogen was born March 21, 1938 to Clarence and Hilma (Gordon) Mogen in Rochester, MN. Lois graduated from Hayfield High School in 1955. She graduated from St. Olaf College in 1959. On September 1, 1973, she married Robert C. Jorstad in West St. Paul, MN. Lois taught at Red Wing Junior and Senior High School from 1959-1961, Bakersfield College in Bakersfield, CA from 1961-1962, West St. Paul Grass Junior High School from 1961-1973 and Stewartville and surrounding area schools as a substitute teacher from 19761995. Lois was a member at Zumbro Lutheran Church. She was a lifetime member of the National and Minnesota Education Association and the National and Minnesota Family and Consumer Science Association. Lois enjoyed volunteering, specifically for the Olmsted County United Way, where she also served on the board, Stewartville community organizations, the Rochester Area Foundation and other historical association activities. Lois also held leadership roles with the local and regional ELCA and former ALC. Lois is survived by her sister, Diane Nelson of Apple Valley, MN; and her brother Ronald (Carolyn) Mogen of Tarzana, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Robert. There will be a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Zumbro Lutheran Church (624 3rd Avenue SW). Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield, MN at a later date.
