Lois Litzow, 96, passed away on February 5, 2015 at Madonna Towers Skilled Nursing Facility with loving family at her side. She was born Lois Adell Supita on March 17, 1918 in North Prairie, Wisconsin.She attended Carroll College, where she was a member of Alpha Kappa sorority.In June, 1941 she graduated at the top of her class from Marquette University School of Dentistry with the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery.The following year was spent in additional training at the Forsyth Dental Infirmary in Boston, Massachusetts. From 1942 until 1952 she practiced dentistry in Waukesha, Wisconsin.In 1952, she joined her husband in Rochester, Minnesota where he was a resident at the Mayo Clinic. On November 6, 1943 she married Captain Thaddeus Litzow, a dental officer in the U. S. Army.He later attended medical school and joined the Plastic Surgery staff of the Mayo Clinic. She was a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rochester for over 50 years.She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Jacob and Elisabeth Supita, and her brother, Cecil Supita. Her devotion and love for her family was her legacy. Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Margaret Svehla (Ronald) and son, Dr. Mark Litzow (Kristine) and 5 grandchildren, Ann Sorenson (Mike), Rachel Svehla, David Svehla, Andrea Litzow and Erin Litzow. A memorial service is planned for February 28, 2015 at Madonna Towers, 4001 19th St. NW, at 11:00 AM with lunch to follow.Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Madonna Towers. Final internment of her ashes will be at the First Presbyterian Church columbarium in Rochester, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Seasons Hospice, Madonna Towers or the Salvation Army.
