Leona M. Renaux

ROCHESTER, MINN: Leona M. Renaux, 95, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Madonna Towers, with her daughters by her side. Leona was born September 16, 1917 in Kasson, MN to Earl and Nellie (Strain) Schoonover. She grew up in rural Rochester, on the Mayowood Farms. She attended Bamber Valley School and was a 1935 graduate of Rochester High School. On December 5, 1937, Leona married Robert Lowell Renaux in Rochester at the Methodist parsonage. Leona was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Rochester Senior Center. She enjoyed playing cards with The Lucky Ladies card club for over 60 years. Leona loved birds, cats, the beauty of trees and flowers, Vikings football, country music and spending time at the family cabin in Wisconsin. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Leona is survived by her children, Barbara Ann (Charles) Swancutt of Rochester, Sharon K. (Patrick) Macken of Rochester, Wendy L. (Philip) Welti of Round Rock, TX, Lori L. Renaux of Rochester; 8 grandchildren, Kevin, Steven and Brian Swancutt, Melissa Swancutt Wilson, Patti Macken Stanton, Mark Macken, Michele Welti Vaughan, Anne Welti Eaton; 20 great-grandchildren; 9 great, great-grandchildren; brother, Frank (Norma) Schoonover of Coon Rapids, MN; sister, Donna Pries of Rochester and numerous nieces and nephews. Leona was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lowell; parents, Earl and Nellie; 2 brothers, Leonard and Arwin, and 2 sisters, Estella Oliver and Dolores VanHouten. A funeral service will be held 11:00am Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN. Family will receive friends from 10:00am until time of service. The Rev. Michael Wuehler will be officiating with interment at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
