Leona L. Nelson, age 93, of Rochester, Minnesota died Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Leona Louisa Nelson was born November 22, 1927 in Yale, South Dakota the daughter of Emil and Emilie (Musolf) Lemke. As a young child they moved to Spring Valley, MN where she graduated high school. Leona married Alan Nelson on July 26, 1947 and they made their home in Austin, MN. In 1952, they moved to Rochester, MN where they raised their family. Leona also worked as a clerk for 30 years at Snyder Drug Store. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and active in quilters guild. She enjoyed sewing, stamp collecting and traveling. She is survived by her son, Larry Nelson (Norma Dallman) of Rochester, MN; four grandchildren, Kimberly Nelson of Rochester, MN, Mark (Alyssa) Nelson of Minnetonka, MN, Paul Nelson (Becci Kruger) of Livermore, Ca and Geoff (Erika) Nelson of Kasson; adopted grandchildren, Jim Nelson of Kasson, MN and Laurie Nelson of Kasson, MN; three great grandchildren, Callie, Gavin and River Nelson; sister, Doris Crabtree of Pickerington, Ohio, Raymond (Ruth) Lemke of Spring Valley, MN and Anita Nelson of Spring Valley, MN; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan; infant daughter, Judy; son, Richard; parents; one sister, two brothers and adopted grandson. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, December 14, 2020 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held 1:00 to 3:00 PM Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Grandview Memorial Gardens 1300 Marion Road SE, Rochester, MN. Memorial are preferred to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society. Service will be livestreamed on Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes Facebook page at the time of the service.
