Leola M. Rud, 96, died Friday, September 24, 2021, peacefully on the farm where she and her husband raised their family. Leola was born in Haverhill Township, Olmsted County, on December 19, 1924, to Alfred and Minnie Hoffman. She married Aden Rud on October 16, 1942, at the Church of Peace in Rochester. She worked various jobs which included driving truck, working at the local cheese store and canning factory, and served as the Salem Township Clerk for 42 years. Leola was an active member of East St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Her pride and joy were her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren. Leola is survived by her eight children, Donald (Linda) Rud, Susan (Bill) Jahraus, Tom (Vicki) Rud, Arlen "Charlie" (Susan) Rud, David (Lynn) Rud, Dale (Diane) Rud, Gary (Sally) Rud, Greg (Martha) Rud; 27 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 67 years, and one brother. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at East St. Olaf Lutheran Church, 6200 County. Rd. 3 S.W., in Rock Dell with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the East St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the East St. Olaf Cemetery Fund or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
