Leo D. "Dale" Corfits, 98, of Rochester, MN died Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Eden Brook. Leo Dale Corfits was born November 27, 1921, to Chris and Hazel (Dvork) Corfits, in Genoa Township, Olmsted County, MN, and attended grade school at Northrup School in Rochester, On February 20, 1942, he married Helen Timmerman in St, Charles, MN, while working for Kruger Cabinet Making. Together, they made their home in Rochester and he proudly served in the United States Army from 1942-1945. Upon his return from service, he then worked for the Rochester Public School District in the maintenance department for a total of 38 years. Dale was also very involved in the Rochester Boy Scouts, sharing his love for hunting, fishing and outdoors. His passion for the outdoors continued throughout his life, as well as collecting antiques and carving canes and walking sticks for friends and loved ones. Leo is survived by his wife Helen of Rochester; three sons, William (Jeanne) Corfits of Rochester, James (Barb) Corfits of Sun Prairie, WI and Harold (Therese) Corfits of Rochester; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister; one brother; five step-brothers; and three half-brothers. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Peace United Church of Christ (1503 2nd Avenue NE) with the Reverend Paul Bauch officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at Grandview Memorial Gardens with full Military Honors provided by the Rochester American Legion Post #92.
