Lee Edward Haglund

November 17, 1945 — July 20, 2012

Lee Haglund, 66, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012 at Saint Marys Hospital after waging an insurmountable battle with pancreatic cancer.He was born in Tyler, MN on November 17, 1945 to Elinore and Kenneth Haglund. He lived his early life in Canby, MN, moving to Rochester in 1957.Lee was a 1963 graduate of John Marshall High School.He obtained a BS degree from Winona State University in 1970.He started his career in teaching, but became a legal investigator and worked for the OBrien Law Firm for over 20 years before starting his own private investigation business which he operated for 5 years.Lee finished his working career with Rochester City Line, retiring in December 2011. Lee married Christine Theurer and they later divorced. They had two sons.He later met and shared 36 years of his life with Patricia Evans, marrying in 2003. Lees greatest passion was for animals.Through the years he opened his heart and home too many homeless dogs and cats.He leaves behind seven wonderful dogs and one courageous cat.He was also an avid reader, especially enjoying history.The New York Times could not create a crossword puzzle that he could not solve. Lee is survived by his wife, Patti; sons, Erik (Mariah) and Matthew (Martine); sister, Judy (Robert) Adams; one grandson, Catalin; four granddaughters, Olivia, Sophia, Lila and Abigail and three nephews,Jay, Todd, and Kevin Adams. Memorials will be shared with animal related causes. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Thomas Poterucha; Mayo Hospice nurses, Joleta Smith and Wendy Haley; the nurses from Jo3-G at Saint Marys and Gonda 10 East for their care and support. A memorial visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes on Monday, July 23, 2012 with a time of sharing at 6:30 p.m. Inurnment will be at Oakwood Cemetery Columbarium on a later date.
