LaVonne Elizabeth (Meinke) Massey of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2021 at the age of 84. She was a resident of Rochester for 60 years. LaVonne grew up in North Minneapolis and graduated from Patrick Henry High School. She obtained a degree from RCTC, was active in theater, loved to play piano and organ, gave tours at Mayowood, and sang in the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church choir. She was also interested in history and genealogy. Dale and LaVonne loved to travel the world with friends as well as volunteer in the community and visit their children and grandchildren and attend their many events. She was preceded in death by son, Jerry Massey; brother, Robert Meinke; parents, Leo and Lola (Vogel) Meinke. She is survived by her loving husband, Dale Massey; children, James Massey of Eau Claire, WI, Robert Bickford of Forest Lake, MN, Ronald Bickford (Terri Schlee) of Ham Lake, MN, and Richard Bickford of Hutto, TX; 9 grandchildren, Ashley Kate (Chad) Chafee, Michael Bickford (fiancé Samantha Bianco), Jamie Massey, Alex Bickford (fiancé Kaitlynn Place), Brennen (Rachel) Bickford, Carly Massey, Ryan Bickford, Seth Bickford and Jessica Massey; and 5 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service for LaVonne will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1212 12th Avenue NW, Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the church. Interment will be at Oakwood East Cemetery in Rochester, Minnesota. The family asks those in attendance to please wear a mask.
