Lavonne C. Skillestad

LaVonne C. Skillestad, 70, of Eyota, MN passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, MN. LaVonne Carol Higgins was born August 28, 1945 to Ernest and Nina (Nichols) Higgins in Eyota, MN.LaVonne graduated from Dover Eyota High School.She worked for the Rochester State Hospital, Samaritan Bethany Nursing Homes, Clothing Care Dry Cleaning in Rochester and the Post Office in Eyota, MN.She married Richard Skillestad on February 27, 1965 in Eyota, MN.LaVonne was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Eyota where she sang in the choir, the American Legion Auxiliary in Eyota, Chairman of Committees at the Legion in the District, Cabane local office and Grand offices and Grand President Passe.LaVonne enjoyed singing, especially Precious Memories and playing piano and the organ. LaVonne is survived by her husband, Richard of Eyota, MN; her mother Nina Higgins of Eyota, MN; one sister, Dolores (John) Rother of Eyota, MN; and two brothers, LeRoy (Mary) Higgins of Eyota, MN and Randy (Mavis) Higgins of Rochester, MN.She is preceded in death by her father, Ernest; and her brother, Duane. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Eyota, MN (222 4th Street SW) with the Reverend Jon Vollrath officiating.Visitation will be held from 5:00 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
