Lavonne Lovie Ann Thompson, was born on April 12, 1927 in Mantorville, Minnesota. She was the daughter of the late Sydney and Ella (Stucky) Hayward. They owned a local feed mill in Mantorville until the depression struck and Ella became ill. The family was separated and different relatives took the children. Lavonne lived with her grandma Stucky for awhile and then her aunt and uncle, Eva and Myrle Weckerling on their farm. In her high school years, she lived her friend Lorraine Witt/ Nolan's family and graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1945. She married Dallas Burch in 1947 and had two children, Brad Burch and Connie Burch Courtright. She later remarried Lester Thompson and helped raise his two children, Donna Thompson Gage and Donald Thompson and together they had Brenda Thompson Lake. Lovie worked at the Rochester Eat Shop, Waters Conly, Pace Dairy, Libby's and Marriott Cafeteria, where she enjoyed decorating the eating stations until her retirement. You could always find Lovie making a new casserole, baking after school treats, cleaning/decorating a room in her house or giving one of her many girlfriends a new hair-do. She loved to dance and listen to country western music. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Leora and Lola; brother Daren; husband, Lester Thompson; daughter, Donna; son, Brad and great-grandson, Dustin Whipkey. She leaves behind her children, Connie, Donald and Brenda; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her dad nick named her Lovie when she was a little girl and that was such a fitting name as she was such a love. In memory of Lovie, put on a George Strait song, have a cold one and remember her with fondness. A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes with Pastor Jean Boese officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Samaritan Bethany Fun Force Fund, as the caregivers, and staff took such great care of our mom.
