ROCHESTER, MINN:LaVonia K. Sikkink, 94, died on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Stewartville Care Center, Stewartville, MN. LaVonia Kathern Sikkink was born November 4, 1916 to Benjamin and Mable (Vrieze) Sikkink in Preston, MN. She worked for Waters-Conley (Currently Telex Communications Inc.) and later at Town Hall Estates as a Dietary Aide. LaVonia enjoyed needle work and knitting. Many of her hand knit mittens and hats were donated to under privileged children. She enjoyed Sudoku, Solitaire, and various number puzzles. LaVonia was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. She was instrumental in bringing the Reformed Church in America to Rochester and was a charter member of the Church of the Savior. LaVonia is survived by her sister Arlene (Melvin) Hoopman, Rochester, MN and her sister in law Lucille Sikkink. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Julian Bud Sikkink. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2011 at the Church of the Savior-RCA. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church. Burial willbe at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2011 at Greenleafton Cemetery, Greenleafton, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Church of the Savior-RCA.
